INTRODUCTION
The Injector Inhibiting Rig (Part No. JMP/ADOUR/D/6442) is used to inhibit the fuel system of the Rolls Royce Adour engines. The Injector Inhibiting Rig comprises a welded steel frame which forms a transportation trolley for the inhibiting fluid tanks, inline filters, a nitrogen cylinder and control console.
The two inhibiting fluid tanks (high and low pressure) each has a capacity of 13.6 litres (3 gallons). The inhibiting fluid tanks are equipped with a filler cap, gauze strainer, safety valve, nitrogen inlet and fluid outlet. They are also fitted with a drain tap. Inhibiting fluid delivery hoses, complete with fittings, are stowed on each side of the rig. The rig runs on two 6” diameter castor wheels at the rear and two 12” diameter wheels at the front.
GENERAL
The fluid in the inhibiting fluid tanks is pressurised by nitrogen. The nitrogen is contained in a cylinder mounted horizontally under the inhibiting fluid tanks. Two pre-set pressure regulators are used to reduce the nitrogen pressure from the nitrogen cylinder from its maximum charging pressure of 2500 psi (174 bar) to the operating pressures of the rig. The operating pressures are within the range 270 psi (18.6 bar) to 280 psi (19.3 bar) for the high-pressure system, and 80 psi (5.5 bar) to 90 psi (6.2 bar) for the low-pressure system.
