At the beginning of March this year an affectionate television tribute to one of aviation’s unsung heroes was screened; the Westland Sea King helicopter.
For forty years this iconic aircraft has performed essential search and rescue work for the Royal Navy, both in peacetime and during conflicts. In fact, as the programme states, the Sea King has probably been responsible for saving more British lives than any other aircraft in history and Juniper lightweight rigs have been used for engine washing all its operational life.
While we are happy that the Sea King was rightly recognised as the star of the show, Juniper is proud to have played an important supporting role. In fact we even appear fleetingly in one scene positioned next to one of Squadron 771 ‘Ace of Clubs’ SAR Sea Kings at the RNAS Culrose base in Cornwall… Blink and you’d have missed us..!
