At the end of the Falklands conflict in 1982, troops and essential supplies were moved around the islands by the Royal Air Force Chinook Squadron.
Due to the prevailing weather conditions the Chinooks required daily engine washing and Juniper’s newly developed self contained 2x32ltr. washing rig with two small onboard re-chargeable nitrogen cylinders was considered ideal for the task.
Their efficiency having been proved, the next ten years saw over 600 rigs of this type supplied to the RAF, Army and Royal Navy and the rig became affectionately known as the ‘Super Juniper’.
Moving on to the late 80’s, Juniper introduced the, by now, well proven engine washing system at Boeing’s Chinook factory in Philadelphia.
Impressed by the system, Boeing introduced Juniper to the US Army and a successful demonstration was carried out for them at Fort Campbell in Kentucky. Meeting with immediate approval, over 150 rigs have since been supplied, with a further 23 ordered for this year.
